Welcome to Fuel Flex
Fuel Flex Ireland is your nationwide provider of top quality retro-fitted ethanol conversion kits. Most cars manufactured since 1980 have the ability to be converted to run on E85, which is a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% unleaded petrol.
Ethanol (Flexfuel) kits are now being used in over 40 countries. They have been used in Brazil for 25 years and USA for 8 years and are now becoming more popular across Europe. Fuelflex kits allow a conventional vehicle to run on E85, petrol or a mixture of both without affecting the engine.
E85 is available through Maxol forecourts (click here for list) and is approximately 20% cheaper than regular unleaded. The supplier of bio-ethanol for this E85 is the Carberry Group in Co. Cork, who produce the bio-ethanol from whey, a by-product from the manufacture of cheese and other dairy based foods. The CO2 emitted by vehicles using E85 was extracted from the atmosphere during plant growth and by closing this CO2 circle, a reduction of 70% in CO2 emissions is obtainable, when compared to petrol.
Ethanol can now be produced from "household waste" by new "Waste to Energy" technology composters in the UK and other Countries. This process will soon be coming to Ireland instead of "incineration".
If you run out of E85 just top it up with petrol and the Fuelflex kit adjusts automatically so you can use E85, Petrol or a mix of both.
We have mechanics who can install the Fuel Flex kit on most cars in approximately 15 to 20 minutes. This may vary depending on the ease of access to the injectors.
